Dunoon and District Gazette Issue 212 Apr-May 2026

A Few Words from The Editor

Welcoming New Volunteers and Celebrating Community Support
As we bring you Issue 212 of the Dunoon Gazette, it’s a pleasure to pause and reflect on the community spirit that keeps our publication thriving. This edition marks a special milestone, not only in the stories we share but in the teamwork behind the scenes.

We are delighted to welcome Jacinta Hunter, our newest volunteer, who has stepped up to take on the layout for this issue, and we are immensely grateful for her commitment. Rob Gatt and Liam Gatt are also providing support with bookkeeping and the website, and Electra continues her support with financials, oversight and distribution. Volunteers like Electra, Jacinta, Rob and Liam are the backbone of small-town publications, and I certainly couldn’t continue in the editor role without the generosity of other volunteers willing to lend a hand.

This progress has also been made possible thanks to the support of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, with funding provided through the Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grant Program. Their grant of $5000 for the Dunoon and District Gazette Computer Equipment and Skills project has enabled us to invest in essential tools and resources, ensuring the Gazette remains a vibrant platform for sharing news, events, and stories that matter to Dunoon and the surrounding region. We extend our sincere thanks to both organisations for recognising the importance of rural journalism and empowering us to continue our work with renewed vigour. In particular, thank you to Brett Alvos from the Casino branch of Nutrien Ag Solutions.

With these improvements comes a small change that we wanted to let our readers and advertisers know about. To help cover rising printing costs and keep the Gazette sustainable, we have introduced a modest price increase for our advertisements. We understand that every dollar counts and remain committed to providing affordable opportunities for local businesses and community groups to connect with our readership. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we grow and adapt.

On behalf of the team, thank you to our volunteers, our advertisers, and everyone who makes the Gazette possible. Here’s to another edition full of local voices and stories!

Until next time…
