A few words from the Editor.
Once again, I am bringing this edition to you from afar. The challenges of working while travelling have made it a little late, but better late than never!
In this edition, there is news from Mélissa, my former team-mate in the Dunoon United Football Club Women’s 5th team.
The article on page 9 is about her wedding to the love of her life, Christelle – and there are a few more photos on the website at www.dunoongazette.com (Issue 206 online supplement).
I had the absolute joy of being there, soaking in the warmth, love, and laughter of the entire weekend. From witnessing new customs to dancing well past 4 a.m, and continuing the celebrations with a festive dinner, a relaxed brunch, and a local festival outing—it was a magical and unforgettable experience from start to finish.
Staying in touch with people who were once your neighbours, friends, team-mates, or colleagues—even after they’ve moved away—can be one of the most rewarding parts of life. These connections are built on shared experiences, laughter, challenges, and memories that don’t fade with distance. Whether they’ve moved across Australia or to the other side of the world, keeping in contact helps preserve a sense of continuity and belonging.
In a world where people often move for work, love, or adventure, these relationships become a precious thread tying us to different chapters of our lives.
A simple message, a catch-up call, or even following each other’s journeys online can spark joy and keep those bonds strong. They remind us of who we’ve been, support who we are now, and often turn into lifelong friendships that span time zones and years.
Until next time…
